Based on the formula for ideal screen position, I need to drop the image from my projector about 1 foot, but the front speakers interfere with that location. Attached is a temporary config of my "theater" showing screen position about 1 foot higher than ideal and my unmodified green textured wall.

As I see it, I could solve the problem in the following ways:

1. accept a higher than optimal image so the picture clears the height of the speakers (as shown in the attached photo, 12ft ceiling)
2. reduce the screen size so the width of the image fits between the speakers (current screen is 150" diagonal)
3. buy an acoustically transparent screen to place in front of the speakers (solves the need to smooth/paint the wall too)

What solution would you pick and why? I'd like to either begin shopping for a screen, or begin prepping the wall for my final configuration.

BTW- Anything that isn't a speaker is going to be placed in the "boiler" room with cables run in the wall.

Whats in the closet with the bird on in? Is blocking that door a complete non-starter?

Since your speakers look pretty narrow, you could slide them forward and in front of the alcove's bump out (whatever you want to call that wall by the doors).

Otherwise, since you haven't bought a screen yet, I'd think getting an acoustically transparent screen solves all your issues without much compromise or adding to your budget.

I like AT screens. I like speakers too, but I don't need to see them. :D Could you mount the speakers so they aren't showing underneath it? I think it'd be weird to have half the speaker hanging below.
I had thought of this too, and the WAF (wife acceptance) is certainly important. Was thinking perhaps I could mount the front speakers horizontally so they are just above

The bird room is a bedroom. I'll see what it's like to put the speakers in front of the alcove. Might also try mounting horizontally to see how that might affect sound.

I'd think given their size, that you'd be running into some dispersion issues and potential interference with the center channel.

You could put the speakers on a stand and put a small bookshelf or cabinet in front.
