Guys, I'm thinking of buying a big LCD but my house is dusty as HELL! I have 5 dogs and there's no point in even dusting. The next day will pretty much be the same. I have a regular tv now and not afraid to clean it since it's glass but not so on an LCD screen. Should I put a film/screen protector so I won't be scared to clean it and if so, pros and cons please. Will it affect the picture a lot or not?

Where would I get the exact screen measurements? Just ask someone here to measure one (someone that has the same model)?

Thinking of the samsung 750

Thanks

Dust isn't an issue on the actual screen of my A750, it's the bezel, the properties of Acrylic must have super powers of attracting dust and hair.

If you are thinking about something in the lines of a 3M invisible shield like film for a TV, I doubt you will find it, plus I wouldn't want to be the one to apply it, I've applied that stuff on countless iPods, phones, anything with an LCD screen, and while they turn out good, not perfect, dust and hair is easy to get under them when applying.

Yeah but at least you can clean it without scratching the surface up, right?

What other choice do I have? I mean, it's REALLY dusty in here..

As for finding it, I think one company custom cuts them

I have the same issue. I am going to keep my house a little cleaner, and keep the tv under a cover when not in use. I would not want to stick something on the screen. I think a air duster like those for computers and an occasional damp whipe will be fine-

I think the clear filter on the panel of the A650/A750 has some scratch resistance properties, it cleans up nicely and doesn't scratch, of course I use a microfiber cloth but honestly you should be fine. If I can deal with it, I'm really uptight about keeping a screen prefect.

I was looking for my 24" LCD computer monitor also. I called cell-phone screen protector companies and said that they do not have such a product. Now I want to have a screen protector for my 52xbr6 against my kids grubby hands and at least some protection against rubbing matchbox cars against screen.

Happy New Year.

For the others...guys, I mean, my house is REALLY dusty and those dusters get damn static don't they?

As for a film, it won't really STICK or anything so it can be taken off easily. What I was wondering is if it'll do anything to the picture quality?

Thanks George, I just asked them about my tv will report back once they reply. Protectors will change the picture quality. In some instances it may help or hurt in others. Also watch out for the differences between anti-glare and 'clear' films. Anti-glare film might help improve glossy the plasma screens to be come less glossy. Clear film may make non-glossy LCD screens more glossy.

Also, just clean the screen with distilled water and/or LCD screen specific cleaner

More details please? THere's no way I can do this without scratching the plastic or?

Yeah, well, therein lies the problem. If you knew how damn lazy I am, you wouldn't even suggest that. I would either forget it or ignore it so no go there.

I still need to know if the quality will change with a protector. I can't believe no one has one on their tv..
