Hi everyone,

I just got a Dwin TV3 and vutec brightwhite 103" screen. This is my first pj that is replacing my mits diamond HDTV. can someone suggest to me a general step-by-step procedure for screen setup on the wall?

Thanks

Hey Freak,

Man I'm jealous. The DWIN TV3 I saw at CEDIA looked awesome!

Is your Vutec a fixed frame screen or a rolldown? Either way, the general rule of thumb is that when you're seated, your eyes should be roughly at one third of the way up from the bottom of the image.

So you'd want to mount the screen such that the bottom of the projected image is about 23 inches off the floor (I'm assuming you bought a 16x9 screen). But if your equipment or other variables require a little higher mounting position, that would be perfectly acceptable. Just don't go too high so you won't get a sore neck looking up at your screen.

Other than that, it's pretty simple. You'll want to mount your projector (ceiling mounted I presume?) to fit the screen placement, unless you have some restrictions about where you can put the projector in which case you'll have to mount the SCREEN to fit the projector placement.

Do you have any specific questions about mounting?

Thanks for the reply David,

THe screen is fixed and was planning around 23 inches off the floor. The wall has a total height of 7.5 feet leaving 14inches above. I was planning on mounting the pj (ceiling) around 14 feet from the wall then mount the screen centered on a 10.5ft wide wall leaving about 16 inches on either side. So, do you just find the center point of your call, map the screen on the wall, mount the mounting hardware (in the studs of anywhere?), then hang it right?

Well, I'm not sure exactly what type of mounting hardware Vutec provides. I assume they provide a way for you to hit studs even if your screen isn't perfectly centered on studs (which it likely won't be). But yes, just map out where you want the screen to be and mount it there regardless of what type of mounting hardware they provide.

If for some reason Vutec's hardware doesn't allow you to hit studs in your chosen location, I'd feel safe using good sheetrock anchors to attach it straight to the sheetrock, assuming that's what you have. The assembled screen will probably weigh somewhere around 16 pounds (give or take a pound or two), so that small amount of weight spread out over four sheetrock anchors shouldn't be a problem.
