We are getting a 75u projector and trying to decide on a 4:3 screen size.

By raw lumens we can go as high as 120" no problem, but framing this out visually, it seems a bit huge - too big in fact - my wife and I both agree.

100" even seems a bit too big, but we want to preserve as much screen width as possible for 2.35:1 content - ideally this would be 96" wide to match the THX 36 degree spec for 2.35:1, but I guess we can live with 80. (or have two screens (maybe two fly screens - we have a nearby wall to store them against behind some cabinetry) , or a fancy quad masking system - too $$$).

Any thoughts??

Searching the forum I see many 110-120"s at 15-16', so at 13', 100" would seem in line with the rest of the forum community.

I could also go with a 16:9 format screen and waste pixels and deal with no masking for most content - this is undesirable.

Seems like the two fly screen (4:3 at 100" and 2.35:1 at 96" wide, about 41" high) idea is the best, but cumbersome.

Thoughts??
