Probably a dumb question, but when screen sizes are quoted, ex. 120" wide screen, is the 120" dimension the screen surface or the total width of the screen including the black border? The same question when determining projector placement?

Some of us new to the idea of projection are not real clear on this method of measurement. Thanks for any help on this, aiming for projector and screen for Christmas!

The sizes quoted are usually screen surface dimensions. Most manufacturers list their screen sizes in the diagonal dimension, with surface width and height as secondary measurements. Then outside frame dimensions are usually listed in the details.
