Screen suggestions

434 Views 4 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  MississippiMan
I have an Optoma UHD60 projector and am looking to project it onto about 140'' screen mounted from above. The room is being built currently and will be done in about a month. I plan on using both blinds and blackout curtains, but I'm sure some light will come in, esp from the entrance to the room (this will not be in a basement) and I plan on watching things during the day, not just at night. If your budget is around $100 for the screen (I have a friend that can make a frame) is the Carl's Flexigray Screen Material the best option ? Has anyone with the same relative conditions used this and can advise? If not what is a better option for around that price range?

Also.. after reading many of the threads on here I am seeing Spandex might even be a better option than the Carl's.

Not this time......

Flexi-Grey "as is" or Flexi-White sprayed with Silver Fire (...the best choice possible...)
just curious ....how is Flex Gray better than the Spandex in my situation? (I'm trying to learn). Thanks.

Simply put... The spandex is of a much lower gain. Unless someone has very specific reasons why spandex would be preferred under normal use, I personally would never suggest it unless someone did in fact specifically needed for acoustic transparency. If such was the case, then yes, absolutely spandex is a very preferred material and worse compensating for the loss of gain. If not... No way.
