ok, first off i am an utter newb to the world of avs. i am a network geek so please excuse my ignorance. i have a problem with this tv...the first being that i bought it. in any case, i have had it about a year and a 1/2, i am out of warranty. last night i noticed a small faint shadowy area at the side of my screen. it is the same shape, size, darkness, and position all the time. it only appears on certain scenes when the screen is what i would call medium dark. now i have fought with sony over the auto-dim feature on this tv, so i know not to expect good support; however does this sound familiar to anyone? i figure if i at least have an idea of what it is, i can see how much it may be to cost to fix. needless to say i am feeling as though i have been taken advantage of since i paid an arm and a leg for this tv. if anyone thinks they know what this is, or even better a quick fix, i would really appreciate it. my thanks in advance.

What does the auto-dim feature have to do with the problem you are describing? If you don't like this feature, turn it off. Without a picture it is very difficult to help you out. Please try and attach one.
