Okay, so it seems that all of these wonderful rear projection sets have problems.

I bought the Sammy 6187 and I see rainbows like crazy (my wife doesn't tho).

If I buy plasma, I can get burn in while playing my Xbox 360 games.

If I buy the XBR, I get the green blob.

If I buy the ILA, I don't get color uniformity.

If I buy an LCD, I can't get the 60" screen size that I need.

What's a big screen hopeful to do?

Everything (potentially) has a problem. Since you see rainbows, that makes your decision a bit easier...

btw, buying a Sony doesn't mean you will get the green blob, it means you might get the green blob. I might win the lottery, I might get a date with Jessica Alba, I might get hit by a car tomorrow and make all this discussion moot...

Plasma is the way to go. I have a Panny Plasma, and I play PS3 everyday with no image retention problems. The picture is as good as it gets for both gaming and TV.

There are also the two Samsung HL-T61xx LED DLP models coming sometime in May or later. They will be rainbow free for around $3k.

There is also a very safe alternative with an infinite screen size -- a library card.
