I've been trudging through the avsforums (and other sites) for the past few weeks looking for helpp but still haven't found a "here's how to kill desktop scrolling w/nVidia cards".

Could someone PLEASE either point me to a thread I've missed or else explain what I need to do to get 16:9 resolutions working on my HDTV w/out this retarded scrolling desktop?


Here are my stats:

- TV: Hitachi 50v500 (just fyi - it can do 1080i, 720 and 480)

- Video Card: nVidia geforce 4 ti4600

- Connection: DVI cable

- Powerstrip: 3.47


Again - 856x480 is the ONLY resolution I can use that doesn't scroll the desktop.

What is your OS???

ATIs can do windscreen's resolutions only with WIN XP. Not with Win 98 98SE or even Me (the last was my case a year ago with same problems as yours.....I finally switched to XP..)

Maybe this applies also for the nvidias

Only one member reported 1366*768 under Win Me 98SE and this only WITH A MATROX G400 I think....

What is the native resolution of your Hitachi??

- WinXP Pro SP1 is my OS

- Native TV resolution is 1366x768
