I'm thinking about what a HTPC might offer and see links to SDI input cards. Is there a interface that would allow me to output SDI from the HTPC DVD player? I would send this to my existing DVDO iSCAN HD for scaling and DVI output to a projector.

DeckLink from Blackmagic Design . The card looks like a graphics card to the OS.

Some Nvidia Quadro cards have SDI output, but they cost more than HTPC.

Can you use the component output (analog) from the STB to input on the DeckLink to record HDTV?


This would avoid SDI, which seems to be very expensive, and I would guess there are some compromises, since there is a D/A conversion, but might this work?

Blackmagic Design does have a version of DeckLink that has HD component input, I believe. You'll need more than PCI 32bit/33MHz though.
