Hey all,

I was browsing Madisound's site and saw they are selling the SV10 woofers that ACI used to use in their subs.

I was thinking about possibly using one for an INEXPENSIVE small sealed sub for a 2.1 PC music setup. According to the madisound site, a 0.7cuft gives an f3 around 40Hz...and this can be pushed into the lower 30's if using a plate amp with some low end boost.

I've never build a sub, or even modeled performance for that matter, so I wouldn't have a clue from the woofer's parameters if this driver would be any good for this application or not.

Thoughts and help would be much appreciated. As I alluded to above...keeping the budget down on this would be key, so I'd need to find a worthwhile and reasonably price plate amp. Do you think I could I keep total costs to around $200 and it still be worthwhile?

Thanks in advance.

If going sealed and you want maximum performance for your dollar you may want to go bigger with the enclosure. .7 cubic feet is pretty small for just about any sub.

To get more familiar with diy audio, more specifically for subwoofers, you should download one of the free speaker design programs. It took me a day or so of messing around with winisd before I started to figure some of the responses out. Won't hurt anything for you to try it out and it will help you in the long run.
