It's been a long time coming since we signed the papers for the house back in August of 08. The room is above a 3 car garage and measures about 19x37 with 9' ceilings. I've changed my mind about 5x on the layout and equipment and finally have committed to the layout.

Equipment will be a 50" Pio Elite 50" plasma on the wall. 134" Elite Cinetension2 motorized screen to drop in front of the plasma, Epson 6500ub, Onkyo 886 pre/pro (couldn't wait for the UMC-1 any longer), Emotiva XPA-5 amp, Oppo BR player, JTR Triple 12LF for LCR, B&W DM602s3 rears and a Paradigm 2100 sub.

Painters are here doing their thing, roman shades are being made and should be completed in about 3 weeks and I will start to hang the PJ, screen and run speaker wires in the upcoming week.

The room will have a small air hockey table, a 2 hoop basketball game and a mixture of kids and grown up guitars (7 in all), and a Wii.

I am thinking the screen will be hung from the ceiling and about 10-15" from the wall to clear the plasma. Once I hang the screen I will measure for speaker stands. I know the JTR's (or any other LCR) will need to be away from the wall a bit but I don't want to have them out 3' from the wall. I will also be in need of a remote. I can't deal with having all these remotes.

Pics to follow later today.

Still working on things. Hung the screen and PJ last night and love the pic from the Epson 6500UB. Still need to run the wires, hide wires and make it look pretty. Window treatments are still three weeks out so the paper temporary room darkening shades are up for now.

No regrets yet, the JTR's rock (still need to recalibrate tonight) and need to decide if I need speaker stands.

Very nice job. OTOH, damnit! I've got the 111FD too and even with the display speakers attached that DOES look very small compared to the JTR's. : ( I've got Seaton Catalysts coming soon which are pretty close to the size of your JTR's. I guess I need to think about a FP and screen now.

I do like where you are going with your HT. Nice clean look.

FYI, if you are interested in more participation/feedback, you would have more luck embedding the photos into the post rather than attaching them. With the gazillions of threads here, many won't bother if they have to open anything else.

Here's a link on how to do that, if you are interested.

Im going with something like that in my garage but with black moulding. You did say your area was a 3 car garage didnt you? Where are teh doors? How did you handle them? Also are those car speakers you have there? How do you like that screen? I am thinking of upgrading to an electronic drop down screen. I was wondering how they hold up

thanks and agian it looks great

If I remember right. His room is above a 3 car garage rather than made from one.

I have my "theater" in my garage. If I was not renting and had a bigger garage, I would consider going with the "room in room" model to get better noise isolation and better temperature insulation. At the very least I would put some insulation in front of the doors.

Hey JK, that all looks strangely familiar ...

So how does it sound? You have a great sized room for a Theater.

Some unsolicited comments for down the road would be you may want to look into some acoustic panels to tame the first reflections. Also, I think you might be a little under subed considering your speakers. Are you using Audyssey on the 886? That would help compensate for the lack of treatments but some more subbage in a room that size (>5000^3) would be nice.
