I'm have gotten rid of the cable box in my room and still have one in my theater. Any way to stream from the cable box to my computer in my room with controls like slingbox. I would get a slingbox but it does not work with HDMI.


I want to be able to control the cable box also from my computer in my room also, similar to a slingbox.

Hmmmm. You have two problems.


Getting HDMI from the cable box to your PC.

- For this, you can use an HDMI over Ethernet adapter.

Controlling your cable box from another room.

- For this, try a IR extender. Basically, via radio, sends IR command remote to your device.

Thanks for the advice, I might choose this route. But this would connect straight to another tv, not connecting through the PC.

I came across your thread while researching it. It's not cheap, but seems to be at the top of the list as far as capability.

A TV or a PC with an HDMI capture card.
