searching for scene select EFC code for Sony 65w850a tv

3000 Views 5 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  mdavej
Hello All,

I've been struggling to program my silver comcast remote to enter the scene select menu of my sony 65w850a. I'm able to program other menu buttons using the 994 command on the comcast remote, but scene select has been giving me trouble.

silver comcast remote code: 01982
sony tv remote code : 11317

The first group of commands below work as anticipated, and I can program them with no problem. The last group contains the scene select efc code, but it doesnt work for me. I found this information on remotecentral.com

In case you aren't aware, you can test a code without assigning it to a button by simply tapping setup followed quickly by the code. The command is sent while the final digit is pressed.

Please post back with your results.

mdavej, thank you for very much for your response. I will try these codes and report back, but I have a question about your note about testing code without assigning it to a button. Here is the process I use:

press tv
press and hold setup til flashes
press 994
press but dont hold setup
type 5 digit efc code
press button to assign code to

where in this process would I tap the setup button and follow by another efc code? also how would i know if it worked or not before i enter the next efc code?

Thanks again mdavej.

So I ran through all of your codes and only one of them seemed to work.
[efc code 28061 = PIP side by side]

EFC code 28601 seems to be the same as EFC code 05189 in my first post. Any other ideas by chance?
i figured out how to use the shortcut you mentioned. Here was the process.

1. select tv
2. press hold setup til flash
3. type 994
4. press dont hold setup
5. enter efc code
6. press target key on remote for new function
*tap new key once to see if it works, if not go to step 7 and 8.

7. press dont hold setup
8. enter next efc code

** After you enter the efc code the efc command is executed and if it works you will see the results on your tv, if nothing works then you need to try another efc code.

*** Repeat steps 7 and 8 for until you find your match or run out of efc codes.

thanks again.

Sorry you didn't find the command. That's all I've got. Yes, there was some overlap with a few existing codes to keep it simple on my end.

BTW, you don't have to do all of those steps to test a code. Just tap setup followed by the EFC. No holding setup, no 994, no target key, nothing else. That's what I was trying to say. Your procedure assigns the code to a key. That's not necessary for testing.

If you're willing to spend $8 on an interface cable, you can try every possible code (among many other things) without any programming from the keypad.
