Need help before buying a used sub TOMORROW!
I have questions about the JTR 2400 passive Captivator

I'm looking for  TWO subs for a theater that's open to a large great room of 10,100 cu ft total space. I'm currently using a Danley DTS-10 in one corner with a QSC 4050HD and need two subs along the back wall. Below is a diagram of my set up used 80% movies / 20% theater. I'm using all Martin Logan and would love to have the subs behind the sofa create a really tactile sensation which is hard in a 10,000 cu ft space (see below).

$3,400 - 5,200
2x15" sealed USED

The Seaton's come up used around $1,700+ each finished in black oak with the 2400w DSP amp.
I can't afford two new, so I'd have to find two used LOCAL and these are hard to get.
I found one used for sale but the sale may be pending to someone else who called an hour before.

$2,400 - $4,400
1x18" ported

The JTR 2400's are $1,699+shipping or about $1,000 used without DSP or amp.
Figure about $1,100 to $1,300 for a QSM 5050 amp or $400 for iNuke 6000 (open to suggestion)
I have also found one used for sale and may purchase tomorrow

$2,100
2x15" sealed NEW

The PSA XS30's are $2,180 shipped for TWO. Thats 4x15" and aprox 1,500w DSP amp NEW in the box!
These probably represent the greatest value in time and money, plus Tom at PSA gives great support.
However, with the size of my space, I think ported is probably the way to go. The PSA XV30's at 45" high are just too large to sit behind the sofa and get past my wife (there isn't enough space to lay them on their sides),

$1,600 - $2,200
1x18" ported DIY

The Mary Cubes are about $800 with the IST UXL-18 and $1,100 with the TCS LMS 5400.
They'll also need $1,100-$1,300 for a QSM 5050 amp or $400 for iNuke 6000
I built the Danley DTS10's and have a shop with tools, but would love buy it finished.

I've been leaning toward the JTR 2400 Captivator based upon AVS member comments and have located a used 2011 model that l'll be seeing tomorrow. It's a little beat up with shipping damage (gouges into the MDF under the Duralex) on the top and side, torn grill cloth and I don't know what condition the driver is. I'd rather get two new ones if it's really badly damaged. I have questions about the Cap but haven't been able to contact anyone at JTR for answers.

Does JTR have pricing for deal subs?.

Is shipping included in their $1,699 price?

I understand the passive 2400 version has a dual voice coil with two taps on the basket and can be wired for 2, 4, 8 ohm. What's the difference in how it's wired and which is best for which application?

Which is a better amp solution to drive these: QSC 5050HD amp (2x1600w massive 90 lb transformer) or iNuke 6000 (2x3000 12 lb digital switching). I know the Behringer is cheeper but I'd rather get the right amp and already have a QSC 4050HD driving the Danley DTS-10's

How much more for wood veneer?  Would JTR ship with raw wood and I'll veneer it myself?

I tried calling JTR and sending emails several times but no one answers and the voice mail is not set up.  Even if I wanted to pull out the credit card and order two 2400s tomorrow, there isn't an ordering page on the website. I wish they were as reachable as Tom at PSA for customer support.  If I get the used 2400 and need a new driver how do I get one from JTR? Is the driver in the 2014 model the same as the 2011 used one?

These are questions that I'd normally ask a vendor before putting out a couple grand $$$, but maybe you guys can help me instead.

HELP!

I will let more knowledgeable guys chime in on your other questions, but I can answer your question about shipping for the Cap. The prices on their website do not include shipping.

You have a really nice room and a terrific setup. I wouldn't get anything that didn't perform top notch, and I wouldn't get anything that didn't look as nice as the rest of your setup and room. I would wait and save up for something like some Submersives in a nice finish option or some Funk subs, 18.0s in a nice veneer. Anything less than that is not doing your system and your home justice.

That is an absolutely gorgeous room, especially considering its not even a dedicated theater room........ Anyway what is your budget for 2 subs???

Passive Captivator 2400 if you do not want to build a enclosure, UXL-18 Mart Sub otherwise.

Drool....... I wish I could see some output numbers of a Cap 2400. Although I think it would give my HP a concious.

Its been said in the past that a single Cap 2400 is capable of 114-115db 2m rms @ 20hz.

For comparison a FV15HP is capable of 108db 2m rms, so you would need 3 of them to best it.

Edit*

Just want to add that 20hz does not tell the whole story but I would not be suprised if the 2400 maintains a 6db advantage thru most of the FR.
