Seats with features of “real” cinema seats?

Things I like about real cinema seats is that they’re comfortable for long periods of time, yet they have you in an upright position without a headrest. No headrest means sound from behind isn’t blocked. Upright means you get the best audio experience for the front channels. Their compact form means I can get more seats in my room, and they’re closer to the ideal listening position.

What’s the closest you can get to these features without having to buy actual bolt-to-floor fold-down cinema seats?

Any normal living room sofa I’ve tried without a headrest and recliner feature has been uncomfortable. The fancy home theatre recliners I’m aware of are really big and are only comfortable when reclining.

Why would you rather not have the bolt to floor seats? The store where I purchased my recliners also sold regular seats at lower rates than recliners, and they mentioned they are easy to mount on a plate, and they also had specific steel rigs that they could be mounted on. It doesn’t have to be actually bolted to your existing floor.

Ah, interesting. What store was that?
Nothing wrong with bolt to the floor theater seating they are available new and used from several vendors. If you want you can bolt them to a big piece of plywood if your floor is precious

It’s https://bioscoopstoelen.nl in the Netherlands. I doubt it’s of use to you, but there must be similar stores in the US.

Yeah not everybody loves the idea of bolting into existing flooring so that's an interesting suggestion from ijansch
FWIW I just purchased a row of 5 of this style of seat and you can get them with free standing bases, mine were going on a riser so I went with the bolt down version but they are available.
Just stumbled across this thread because one of my complaints with my current theater seats is they are great when reclined but the seat pan is too deep when vertical and the seat height a little too high.

But I’m not ready to lost the option to recline. Looks like none of them recline if I’m reading this right?
