Seeking advice for a plasma

Hello, I'm looking for a plasma set (less than $1000 would be great) for the following:

dvds, cable/satellite tv, light xbox (not 360) and gamecube gaming, and maybe watching some podcasts via my iPod.

I'm guessing a low-end Panasonic would do just fine as there won't be any very critical viewing. Would gaming be ok after a break-in period? Also, would standard def content look good enough?

The Panasonic 42PX75U...mine was just delivered today :> With tax and delivery it did exceed $1000 but a great deal and I was happier buying locally incase of a problem.
