This bedroom system would be used for daily TV use as well as weekend movie watching.

75% DSS DirecTivo (1% HDTV; 74% HBO, CNN, NickNight, FOX, UPN, PPV)

20% Cable

5% DVD

Daytime Very bright sunlight

Nighttime Medium lighting

Movietime Very dark, ideal conditions

Screen diagonal width max is 75"

Viewing distance (from screen to eyeballs) is 17 ft

Front projector could be ceiling mounted anywhere from 4-17 ft

Front projector could be back wall shelf mounted at 17ft

Don't want to spend more than $6,000. Less is better. What projector, screen, and if needed line doubler would you recommend?

How often would you say it is watched during the day? Your biggest obsticle is going to be "very bright sunlight" for daytime viewing. Generally FPTV is designed for light controlled situations. You can find bright projectors that will help you see the image, but the quality is still going to lack because you will have poor black levels. Something like an NEC LT150 is not a bad projector and it is well priced. You would most definitely need a scaler with it, especially if most of your viewing is going to be DSS. It doesn't have a very good internal scaler. Screens are the easy part. Feel free to drop me an email for some ideas.

Thanks!
