I want to put a fairly reasonable complement of generic cable programming on my multicast enabled campus ethernet network. Say, 100 channels of which maybe 20-30 are HD.
I want to provide standard cable-tier channels like ESPN, Discovery, MSNBC, etc. in addition to local broadcast networks.
I would see having a web/app tier to provide program schedules / info, maybe future interactivity features.
I want to be able to support soft clients for Windows (and Apple too if possible) and generic IPTV STBs.
The key is to provide this to up to 2000 users using existing cabling and PC clients.
I assume Comcast, Verizon, D*, E*, aren't going to let me do this with their signals. Do I have to work out separate licensing/subscription agreements with all the content companies (or at least the non-broadcast ones)?
Suggestions? Thoughts?
