I have a pristine XG85 and NEC IPS4000 quadrupler. The pj has 150 hours on it and the picture looks awesome. Do I sell it as is, or do I disassemble and part it out selling the quadrupler separately? I am re-doing the basement and sadly, the home theater is getting much smaller. Not enough throw distance for an image size I really want.

If the unit really is as pristine as stated why not try to sell it locally? It would help if you gave your location and have clear pics of the tube faces to prove your claim. I'm sure someone would love to take it off your hands. FYI next time it might be better to post this in the AVS classified section. Some will see this post as a thinly veiled attempt to drum up interest in the projector.

I didn't list my location or a $ range to avoid the appearance i was trying to drum up business. I have a hard time believing some of the posts I have read on this forum about parting a pj out (especially one with 150 hours on it).
It pains me to think that this item is worth more dissected than a fully operational running unit.
I have this listed on a couple of auction/sell sites and have already had some offers. So, it looks like this one won't be carved up, and that makes me happy.
I cut my teeth in this business on CRT pjs back in the late 70's and have been involved with projection systems on a full time basis since then. I just would prefer that this goes to a good home where someone would appreciate it. Thanks for your comments.

good to hear you found a buyer. The picture these machines put out is well above their selling price in todays HT market. It's a shame but it was a long run while it lasted and there will always be a group of hard core enthusiasts who will follow it.

As dragan said, it is good you found a buyer. As Mavromatis found and Curt has mentioned, the only thing that is moving is LC 8" and 9". If you were in the southeast, then I might have an interest depending on the price obviously.
