I have a Harmony One remote that I'm trying to setup to aid my Aunt in controlling our living room television. We have a Sony Bravia KDL-46EX500 series television and an Amazon Firestick running fubotv, hulu, and Netflix. The main problem she has is selecting fubotv and getting to the guide. The Harmony controls the Firestick via CEC. I have tried adding the individual key presses in a sequence and adding it to a button, but it does not work all that well.

I am guessing that CEC is introducing delays. Does anyone have any ideas on how this can be setup to make things easier? I'm trying to avoid going back to cable or satellite services due to expense and she is really struggling with the technology. I'd like to get this to a two button solution for her.

Yep, no bluetooth on the One.

The best solution is to get the latest Fire TV remote with TV power and volume buttons and let the stick control the TV via CEC, not the other way around. Harmony is too complicated for your application and doesn't play well with CEC. Also, Sony's CEC implementation is less than ideal. If you ever need to use the Fire TV Menu (hamburger button), for example, you have to jump through a couple of hoops.

But a whole new stick with remote included is only $5 more than just a remote:

And you get the added benefit of voice control, so your Aunt can just say, "Watch Fubo" or whatever.

If you already have the linked remote, then you're all set. Just start using it.

Thanks for the reply. I was able to get the Harmony to work by adding a one second delay after each key press and programming the guide button to simulate key presses to open the guide menu. I'll have to get her to try it to verify if it'll solve the issue. We do have the newest firestick with improved remote. She still tells me it doesn't work. She can turn on the TV and adjust volume, but navigating the app interface confuses her. She can't say Fubo 😊. Is there a way to have it open with "Watch TV"?
