What HD sets can have the line doubler turned off? this is for directview sets only.I dont want to go into the service menu.Thanks for input.

My new Sony 34" 16:9 set can. You can turn doubling off and on. It also has 3:2 pulldown.

I don't think this is correct. The Sony can't scan at 15.75kHz (NTSC interlaced).

The only HDTVs I have seen that have the ability to disable the line-doubler are the Panasonic RPTVs (I have not checked the direct views but they should have the same option). It is listed as GAME MODE in the menus.


The Sonys and the Mitsubishis have an option to select the line-doubler mode (480p or 960i), but not to disable.

The SAMPO 34" 16:9 TV doesn't HAVE a line doubler.
