I'm a little unclear about this:
When I set up my 1031Q, I used Video Essentials and the "brightness" and "picture" controls on the 1031Q itself to set brightness and contrast. I got it as close as I could but the blacks are still not totally satisfactory. Should I then start to use the brightness/contrast contols available in the control panel for my nVidia card? Alternatively, I've discovered ffdshow (via Zoom Player) has "overlay" controls that control the gamma and "settings" for brightness/contrast for DVD playback (the primarily use for my 1031Q). FFDSHOW is the only place that a gamma control shows up (even with the Detonator drivers for my GeForce2 MX 400).
So which controls, hardware vs software, are preferable for setting brightness/contrast levels (and gamma) with the 1031Q. Do I use just one of the three options (1031Q's pots, nVidia card adjustments, ffdshow), or all three? IMPORTANTLY, I don't want to hurt/overdrive my beloved 1031Q.
Also, someone got a link to describe just what "overlay" means, especially as it pertains to HTPC/CRT use?
Thanks,
Dan
