I hope this is in the right forum category - if not, my apologies.

Comcast Indianapolis finally rolled out their HD via cable and I was eagerly awaiting. As the technician walked in (late) he announce "I have no idea what I'm doing with these" and proceeded to prove it. He didn't know the difference between component and composite cables and hadn't seen a Tivo before. So, my dilemma is as follows:

We're dealing with:

JVC I'Art 48" HDTV

Motorola DCT5100 set top box

Tivo Series 2

(previously had a GI digital cable box)

All worked well prior to installing the HD set top. With component cables from the set top to input 2 of my set and audio from audio out to audio in, the picture is pretty darn good, but no sound. There's no sound on any digital, non-HD channel, but when playing through the Tivo on pre-recorded material, sound is fine. I tried recording from the new set top to Tivo and again, looked fine but no sound. I disconnected the settop from Tivo, reconnected it as before, and same thing - no sound, picture fine.

Is there any trick to setting up the sound? I'm really at a loss as to what I'm missing here (if anything) and would really appreciate an expert stepping in.

Thanks in advance. Will
