Despite the mixed reviews I blind pre-ordered the 3D Blu-ray from amazon.ca. (I'm a sucker for medieval stories and monsters.) Unfortunately it got cancelled and is no longer available on amazon.ca and amazon.com.

Feel free to comment or review the movie, 3D, and availability of the 3D Blu-ray.

I think I'll pre-order this from amazon.fr. All regions and English DTS-HD 7.1.

Audio : Allemand (DTS 5.1), Anglais (DTS-HD 5.1), Anglais (DTS-HD 7.1), Italien (DTS 5.1), Français (DTS 5.1), Hindi (DTS 5.1), Espagnol (DTS 5.1)
Région : Toutes les regions
Nombre de disques : 1
Studio : Universal Pictures
Date de sortie du DVD : 28 avril 2015

According to Box Office Mojo this movie received 15.7% gross revenue from domestic sales. It ranks 171 in domestic sales among 3D movies. I'd guess they do not expect the 3D Blu-ray to sell in North America.

It would be nice if they had a Disk On Demand service that would burn a 3D Dual-Layer Blu-ray for markets with low demand that could be ordered through the studio or Amazon. Especially if the disks for the larger markets are not region free.

Perhaps they could put a coupon in the 2D Blu-ray for a reduced cost on the Disk On Demand 3D for those that want 2D+3D. Or they could let you pick any of 3D, 4K, 2D, DVD, and digital copy when ordering Disk On Demand. If there are enough pre-orders they could do a one time stamped disk run to reduce cost.

The 3D version of this Blu-ray title is available in nine (9) different countries, including Canada (no date determined yet).
In France, on April 28 ... so no sweat @ all. ...The world is all ours. :)

3D

There is a very big niche market for limited 3D BluRay movies here in the US , you can see it when Best Buy has any 3D exclusive that sells out during pre-sale..... or in less than a week.

The lazy Distributors in the US have not attempted to take advantage of this like other country's have for some unknown reason.
Many other country's sell limited 3D lenticular & steelbook versions that are sold out during pre-sale at very high prices.

If a big US company would just put out the effort, the demand & money is there to be made.

If it was not for Best Buy & on rare occasions Target , I would buy all my 3D movies from other country's that make the effort to reach out to 3D Movie fans.

So sadly...... it looks like once again ,
Seventh Son .... which has some nice 3D scenes throughout the movie..... will only be sold in foreign markets. :(

Maybe Universal Studios are starting to follow Disney Studios' own footsteps? ...Regarding 3D Blu-ray here in North America.

I saw this in 3D in the theater with my wife. I think its more of a rental than an own IMHO. There were some nice 3D moments, but a pretty mediocre film. Walking out we felt entertained, but neither of us felt like it warranted multiple viewings.

Rental (including Red Box) is quite dead in Canada. 3D streaming is not available outside the US.

$30 shipped from amazon.fr. About the price of two movie tickets.

My understanding of Rottentomatoes scoring is that if all critics rated a movie 6/10 the score would be 0%. Thus 13% of critics gave this movie a score of 7/10 or higher. The average score is 3.8/10 from critics and 5.8/10 from the audience. (Based on Rottentomatoes and Wikipedia.)

Given that I am a fan of the genre and 3D, I think it is worth watching once even if I can't rent it.

Took a chance on the 3D import. Thought it would be a winner, what with Jeff Bridges involved. It's kind of a Lord of the Rings derivation.

I agree that the film is mediocre. Lots of plot holes. Pretty good CGI. Had to turn on the English subtitles, as this is one of those mixes where the actors tend to mumble their lines, and they're drowned out even further by background music and foley.

From what I understand, this is a "2.5D" conversion. There were some moments when it almost looked like something was going to leap off the screen, but never quite made it. Depth is pretty good though.

Ordered it too! Thanks for the link quick reference.

Decided to catch up on all the latest 3D title releases now that I'm home from two months of traveling and shooting my own 3D.

Just ordered 4 other 3D titles from Amazon.UK too. Nice the exchange rates have relaxed a bit.

Looks like some more coming in June.

I'm also catching up on 2D only titles with the Red Box. Can't see buying any of those as they will all be on Netflix by the time I want to rewatch if at all.
