I 've got the 1099's for my LCR's and I'm thinking the Volt's will be great for surround and atmos usage. I'd like to build some shallow mount boxes for them, as shallow as possible so that my columns don't protrude into the room very much.

Has anyone embarked on such a project?

Are there designs out there for this?

Thanks!

The Eminence 10cx is 4" deep and the compression driver is 2". If you use 3/4" wood the smallest you can make it is about 7.5" deep. Re-sizing the sealed Volt10 is easy, I'm guessing the box size is around 0.5cu ft. A 14 x 14 x 8" enclosure would work. Not much smaller than the angled flat pack.

8" deep would be much better. It doesn't seem like much but being my theater is only 18' wide, after double rock and clips and channel, it gets kind of narrow if I want steps down both sides of the riser. So every inch helps.

If total volume is what counts, can it be 16.5 tall x 12 wide x 8 deep instead of 16 x 16 x 8?
