So I guess this should work after all. Here's a reply from SVS customer support:
You can connect the subwoofer to two independent sources, using a single-ended RCA audio interconnect cable for each connection. The Denon would be connected the "LFE" input on the subwoofer, while the Yamaha integrated amplifier will be connected to the "Left" input.
If both sources are playing at the same time, you must be sure that they are playing the exact same content, else the subwoofer will try to reproduce both sets of content being sent to it via the two separate sources, which will result in less than ideal audio. With both the Denon and the Yamaha sending signal to the subwoofer, the unit will see an increased signal over a single-source connection, which will add about 3dB of output to the subwoofer.
There is no need to connect the Yamaha to the subwoofer via the high-level inputs, a standard single-ended RCA audio interconnect would be the ideal connection.
