Sharp XR-30X: Opinions?

1733 Views 5 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  Dreamcast18
How is the image quality on this projector?

Uniformity?

I haven't found any quality reviews on it.

Is there a thread dedicated to this projector?

Thanks!

I think Sharp makes a good projector.

What are you planning to do with it?

It's bright and contrast ratio is okay it's a "business" projector but probably does an okay job of scaling wide screen content - all projectors have to scale image unless it's 16:9 or 4:3.

It's inexpensive - relatively speaking - and it will accept up converted dvd HDMI with an adapter via the DVI input.

Our first projector was a wonderful Canon "business" native projector and it did a simply outstanding job of throwing movie images when in Cinema Mode so this Sharp is probably a good dual use compromise for both PC presentations and HD TV/Movie viewing.

We're looking to replace the living room tv with a projector and this looked like a great option.

Thanks for the reply!
I have used the Sharp XR30-X since December in our home theater. We have over 300 hours on it and I could not be more satisfied. We watch all formats on it using a painted 115" screen. Bright picture, even in movie mode - and with a little ambient light we still love the picture! You can do a search on my name for other posts I have made about this PJ. So far, no negatives. Just pleased as can be that it works so well. We didn't want to ceiling mount it so I put it in a nice furniture-grade cabinet - like an enclosed end table with a door on the front. It keeps the PJ out of sight when not on and when you open the door a pair of 12V fans come on to help with cooling in the enclosed cabinet. Feel free to PM me if you have specific questions.
The XR30X carries on in the tradition of the XR10X. Have a look through this thread below for the XR10X - http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...ighlight=XR10X
have had it since Feb...using it for PS3/Blu-Ray and Charter HD...very good projector in daylight viewing. Highly recommended.
