I just returned from Sharp's corporate headquarters, which is just minutes from my house, with the following information: The XV-Z9000U will be available within the third quarter, September or October. Everyone I spoke to was extremely amiable, even the security force who finally escorted me out of the building--only kidding!

Can someone point me to some info on the model?

Thanks!

Jason,

Well, the DW100 listed for $10,995.00 which was grossly inflated not to piss off the pro side of Sharp. You could find it for $6200.00 no problem and now at $4995.00. I hope they left you with these kinds of margins! http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

WOW.. Rick imagine this projector for around 6K?? You think Sharp might sell a few ??

I can see right now, the problem with this projector will be getting one. Getting one to look at, and then getting one to own.

Retail price is posted as $11,995. I would guess market price would be about $8k....

Given the competition Sharp will be seeing in the HD1 arena, I bet you'll be able to get the Z9000 for $6.5K in 2002.

I watched this projector yesterday at the A/V Expo here in Scottsdale and thought it was the best picture at the show by far. The Runco room was not converged and aspect ratio was not set properly. Madrigal room also looked good, but hard to tell when showing animation only. The SHARP retail was quoted at $10K. RGBX2 color wheel instead of RGBW and rpm is higher. HDTV signal was impressive. 1500HR lamp life with a ~$350 replacement cost.

Unit is larger than I thought but is silent running as a result.
