The Shaw Brothers line of films are being released worldwide on DVD and the first titles are shipping now.

I believe the DVD's are region 3, NTSC. No word on specs, but rumor is they are anamorphic. The company that bought the rights to the films have spent millions on cleaning them up and transferring them. Apparently the negatives were all stored properly, which is rare in that part of the world.


THE BAD NEWS: Miramax is in talks with the studio about buying the entire run of titles. "English dubbed" versions is what they are interested in. This may be a disaster for fans of Hong Kong cinema. But what else can we expect from ****ing Miramax?


Looks like us region free DVD player owners are going to be importing more HK films.

do the hk imports have subs??? IF so I will probably be in as long as they aren't too pricey.

Chinese and English subtitles. No word on how good the translations are.

ehh I see Horizontal lines in the first Picture .... If I think what I think this is, then Ehhhh BAD transfer !!!!!!!!!!!!

Just found out they are non-anamorphic. This is a huge disappointment.
