Okay, I'm under loads of pressure from the wife to finish up the bedroom HT. (To be honest it's barely even started.) Basically she's wondering why we have all this equipment still sitting in boxes 18 months after we finished construction on the new place.

So, I need ideas on shelving for the equipment. The intent is to put all the equipment (receiver, DVD player, DTV box, etc.) on shelves in the corner of the room and feed the runs to the TV up into the attic and down into the wall behind it. I've got all the plans laid out with the exception of the shelves.

For WAF I can't really do the standard crappy Home Depot shelf brackets and I sort of promised we'd put the stuff up on the wall so a rack is out. Obviously I need something deep and strong but not ugly.

I'm completely open to suggestions since I'm drawing a blank on things. Any ideas here guys?

Have a metal worker make up some extending frame for a floating shelf.

You could go with wood shelving. Depending on your wood skill level or your money spending level you can have some fantastic looking stuff. We need more feed back on skill level and the money thing as well. Help us help you.;)

My wood skill level...

Well, I'm good at rough carpentry and can follow directions well. I'm not the guy to do minute finish detail but I've finished basements, replaced subfloors, etc. I'm confident that I can execute on an idea if someone has a good one, I'm just not the guy when it comes to the creative side of this.

As far as money goes, the budget isn't sky high, but it's a non-issue for the most part.

You need to narrow this down a bit

Open or closed

Modern or traditional

color or finish that compliments the bedroom furniture

Here is one that is pretty minimalistic. I would imagine that you could paint the supports with a little metal primer first if you wanted it to blend with a particular color scheme.

For more ideas just do a google on : AV corner storage, lots of ideas there

Another tactic is to look at corner Armoires or cabinets

You might get some home magazines and check out the shelving in them for design ideas. There are lots of different moldings out there to dress up your shelves. If you want your shelves adjustable but still have vertical sides, places like Rockler have jigs and special drill bits to evenly space out holes in the sides. They also sell the pins that go into the holes that will support the shelf.
