I noticed that when I was watching "The Return of the King" on my Samsung 22" widescreen LCD TV, the first scene we see Frodo and Sam, I noticed there is something wrong with the dead white trees in the background. It seems they are shimmering or something. What is causing this? I also see shimmering in the Minas Tirth and the Winding Stairs scenes.

What DVD player is being used? An upconverting model?


If a Denon DVD-1910 or a Zenith DVB-318 is being used there have been some reported issues of "jitter" or "flashing".


When I tried a Denon DVD-1910, via DVi->HDMI, to a Panasonic TC-22LH1 @ 1080i the jitter and flashing was noted.


If upconverting and using 1080i trying 720p might help.


No jitter or flashing problem occurs with a Momitsu V880 or Cable HD box with DVI->HDMI @ 1080i, so I assume the compatibility issue is with the DVD player.
