I'm having a problem with my front right speaker, a JBL L820. When volume is raised it causes the receiver to enter protect mode. It is only this speaker, the rest of the system works fine as I removed the FR from the loop and can raise volume as high as I like. The wiring to the receiver has been replaced and double checked and still the same issue so it seems the speaker is shorting internally in some way.

Basically I'm wondering if this is something I could repair myself by opening the speaker and checking its internal connections or if I'm destined to have to purchase a new L820. Thanks for any help!

Pull the drivers out and see if it's something obvious like two wires touching, if not it could be something in the crossover.

Same thing happened to one of my 7006's sort of, sub stopped working and it ended up being a loose wire.
