should I buy Monitor speakers?

I am considering a Monitor speaker Silver s8 package with a Velodyne subwoofer. These speakers will be driven by a denon 3805. Wondering if any one here has experience with these speakers or has alternate suggestions.

Go for it! I really love MA speakers and am looking to purchase a set for myself in the near future
I own the Silver 8's along with a pair of Silver 2's and am spoiled for life. Stage presence is incredible. Monitor's are very warm, which is generally great for most music, and movies are killer too. The 3805 will be fine for these, though you could use even beefier amps if you so chose.

I recently was looking for alternative brands for another room since MA's are now hard to come by in my area, but everyone here agreed that there's nothing like a good set of MA's except maybe some Paradigms... which I have yet to audition. If you can audition the Silver 8's, do so immediately, you won't be sorry.
I own them and I am extremely happy with them. But as said many times before, go out and listen and compare.
Monitor Audio makes excellent speakers. Music will become a joy.

The Velodyne sub (depending on choice) will be a better choice and the Denon 3805 is an excellent receiver. W/ the crossover set correctly, you should be ecstatic.

Great package and good job on doing your homework.

If you guys are located close by or have ?'s look below.

I will be happy to help.
Best kept secret in high end. Wonderfully musical speakers.
good guys usually have them.. you can compare them at the store with the other speakers... While they are great by themselves for music, a good sub will be an excellent addition for your system when watching movies!

Took me awhile learning crossovers in the forums (still learning by the way), now I am a very happy MA owner.
I have the MA S6s, S1s, and SLCR and throroughly enjoyed them. They were hooked up to my Marantz SR7400 before the WAF kicked in. She thought that these next to my 55in. tv was "too much." (What does she know?) So I had to "downgrade" to smaller Mission m72is, m7c1i, ,and m7dSs(these sound awesome BTW!). I now have the MAs set up in my smaller office. Go figure. I love MAs and continue to recommend them. I got mine over the internet from aboutgizmos and they arrived very safely packaged. Monitor Audios are great.
thanks for feedback. The competition was B & W, they sound very similar but with my untrained ear I thought the MA was sharper at higher frequency sounds. With classical or lead guitar solos you can tell it more easily. Besides it's a tad cheaper and allows me to upgrade from a 2805 to 3805.

BTW, if you have any recommendations about "safe" places to buy on the net, PM me.

I have the MA GR10's and the GR Centre with a Denon 3805 also Veloydyne DPS10 sub. Very nice except my listening position sux because I'm in a small condo and the sub is not the greatest although adequate. The S8's are a good choice for sure, I almost bought them and still wonder if I made the right choice. Get the GR20's in a floor stander if you can afford them.
Anyone know when the new Silver series will be out? Here is a pic from CES

Additional pics/info

"a complete stem-to-stern update on the firm’s popular Silver Series speakers, which will now be called the Silver RS series. The Silver RS family includes the flagship RS8 ($1499/pair), RS6 ($999/pair), RS1 ($599/pair), RS-LCR ($599 each), RS-FX ($349 each) and RSW-12 subwoofer ($999). The Silver RS models are changed in more than cosmetic ways, with all new C-CAM (Ceramic-Coated Aluminum Magnesium) tweeters, bass and mid-drivers, where RS bass and mid-drivers now use edge-wound voice coils, while the RS tweeter design is now based on that of the familiar 1†Gold Dome used in Monitor’s Gold Reference series speakers.
