I have the Panasonic pt-51hx41 set to be delivered on Friday. I posted a topic that has had no response as of yet on wether it does anamorphic squeeze. I did find some info that said it will only do vertical compression on the 1080i input which in my opinion is worthless to me. I have a rp91 dvd player and planed on using that with this tv. Now my question is, is the quality difference in a anamorphic dvd worth canceling the TV delivery and getting a different one? Or will i be just as happy with the progressive output. Thanks in advance.

That's a hard question to answer. The artifacts caused by the anamorphic downconversion process vary from player to player. Toshiba tends to offer the sharpest image, but the most artifacts and Sony tends to offer the softest images, but the least visible artifacts. Other players fall somewhere between the two.

Some people can spot these artifacts right away, some will notice them if they're pointed out to them, and some just can't see them at all.

As for the PT-51, it does not support vertical compression for anything other than 1080i input.
