I have had this PITA Momitsu v880dx for about three weeks now and still can't get anything but 768p on my sony 1252. I need to decide soon if I want to return it. Any reason not to try the Denon 1910???

I am guessing your problem is that the Sony doesn't accept positive sync. My Barco 808 had the same problem with the Momitsu. 768p is the only resolution that has negative sync by default in the Momitsu. 480p also worked for me on my Barco even though it was positive sync. This isn't a problem with the Momistu per se rather a limitation of the Sony. You need to setup a custom resolution in the Momistu and configure it for 720p or 108oi with negative sync or get an Extron box that will do the conversion for you.

The two problems I see with the Denon are one, I didn't find any documentation that it has VGA/RGB out (I didn't spend much time researching it either so it could be there but just not widely documented). Two most mainstream players follow the DVD Licensing 100% which means they will not output scaled RGB on copy protected DVDs (which is 99% of them).

Don't think the Denon has RGBHV. Thus you'd then need a transcoder.

I can't believe that Extremephono or Momitsu can not answer this simple question.

Does the 880Dx support 1080i and 720p RGBHV via the dvi port like the older v880 or not? And if so, how does one enable these analog resolutions.

BTW. I take it that you have had no luck with custom resolutions either? 600p would be a good choice for a 1252 with 16:9 screen..

Secstate may be on to something.

Does any of the resident 12xx gurus know whether or not a 1252 will not accept positive sync like a 1272 will.

I know there are many 12xx pj's using the Momitsu without having to use a custom res. How about specifically a 1252 user. Is there anybody out there?

Yeah Don, I agree Sestate may be right. Where was he when we needed him two weeks ago :)

Secstate, Not familiar with the extron box, i infer that it goes in pos sync and out neg sync? What do these contraptions run in price? are they all basically the same?

DOES anybody know about the neg/pos sync issue with the 1252?

The custom resolution of course is the no cost solution. There is a thread ( http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...hreadid=330731 ) over in the DVD section that outlines how to set a custom resolution. There is even a little computer application that allows you to enter a resolution and then provides you the settings you need to enter. Very slick and worked great for me until I got my Extron box.

I use an oddball Extron box called the RXI138. Lucked on to one new in the box on Ebay for $29.95. The easier ones to find are the Extron 109 in various iterations and the 202 in various iterations. I think either of those should work for you. Prices used on fleabay run $9.95 to $50.00 and prices were dropping when I last looked some months ago so they may be lower (or not) now. There is a jumped inside that forces negative sync. The manuals for these (which tell you which jumper) are available on the Extron web site.

You can change the sync direction just fine with the Momitsu using a custom resolution.

No need for an Extron

I wouldnt change it for the Denon EVER.

The Momitsu is a better more versatile machine. (which is most of your problem I think)

Agreed if you are only using negative sync sources. In my case I needed the Extron for my HDTV STB that would not output negative sync. For the Momitsu the custom resolution works fine.
