I have a Samsung DLP (HLN4365W) and was wondering if it is worth it for me to bother with an upconverting dvd player like the LG7832 or will the TV do a good job of upconverting the signal by itself? Is the upconverter in the dvd player that much better?
An upconverting player should look better with your DLP, using your DVI input. You may want to go with the Denon 1910. The advantage of the LG/Zenith is that it upconverts over component (at least it used to; the newest firmware is supposed to eliminate that option). If you're going to use DVI, then some have reported slightly better PQ with the Denon, especially since the LG has great PQ with 1080i output, but the PQ is not as good with 720p output (which is what you want to output since that is the native resolution of your DLP). If you have a larger budget, the Denon 2910 has even better PQ, plus high res audio (SACD and DVD-A).
