My media room (used for watching TV (DirecTV HD-DVR, Blu-Ray, HD-DVD's, X-Box and Wii) currently has 5.1 speakers with the speakers being in-wall speakers: Russound Atmosphere SPA8W's see >> http://www.russound.com/spa8w.htm

I got a great deal on 5 Mirage Nanosat speakers (did not get the Mirage subwoofer) >> http://www.miragespeakers.com/na-en/...-5-1-overview/

I have ordered a new 7.1 receiver (needed more HDMI inputs and 7.1 seemed like a nice bonus). I can get two more of the Mirage Nanosat speakers for a pretty reasonable price to put the total to 7.

The question is; would the Mirage speakers give better sound for my situation (considering we never listen to music in the room) than the Russound ones? It would seem they would but barring running 7 more speaker wires and doing a back and forth test (which I am not excited about doing, up and down in the attic, a few hundred dollars in speaker cable, etc.) would provide better sound.

A side bonus would be no more sound being transmitted to the adjacent room where the 3 front speakers are mounted in wall now.

My other option is to simply replace the existing two rear Russound in wall speakers with the Mirage and add the other 2 surrounds for a total of 7.

Thoughts?

The mirage speakers should give you better sound, how big is your room?

The room is just over 14 feet wide by 17 feet long. The screen is mounted on one of the 14' walls (this is the wall shared with a room my wife uses as an office).

Do you feel they will give better sound due to

A. The Mirage are simply better speakers?

-or-

B. On wall is that much better than in-wall?

-or-

C. Both A and B ?

My only comparison is the Bose system I had years ago (dual cubes with the sub). Yeah, yeah I know, their marketing worked on me... :p

Wow, a few hundred dollars? Those must be some long runs! Here's 100 feet of 14 awg wire designed to be run in-wall for a lot less than a few hundred dollars (try ~$22):

Or if you need a LOT of wire, here's 250 feet of 14 awg wire instead:

Should be around $60 including shipping...
