Hi everyone,


I am currently using an old receiver an Integra DTR 5.2 today I saw a Harman Kardon AVR154 at Future Shop for $140 open box. Should I switch or is my old receiver still okay, I don't really care about video capabilities since I just hook everything up with optical cables. I currently have Mordaunt Short Carnival 6 floor standers carnival 5 centre and avant 903 surrounds. Any help would be appreciated.

What do you want out of a new AVR that the old one does not provide?


Optical cables have nothing to do with the video capabilities. They carry audio.

well it does have an extra optical which I could use but me being a complete newbie when it comes to sound I was wondering if this would maybe be better because it is soo much newer? For $140 it just seemed like a good deal. Is my old integra a good receiver? I picked it up for $80 a few months ago.

I suggest you go on-line and do a comparison of features. Decide what is important to you. I see no advantage of one over the other.
