My bass response seems deeper when I set the Double bass on and let my Klipsch RF-63's serve as full towers. When I set the Xover at 60 it seems muted.

This seems to help my anemic Klipsch RT 12d until I can get a JL f113 or SVS PB13.

I found that I liked double bass for music but did not like it for movies. I just kept it off.

If you have the THX sub setting set , check that BGC is *OFF* if not it will make even a 21" sub sound anemic.

Are you saying that figuratively, or have you really heard a 21" sub? I ask because Exodus Audio is coming out with 21" sub with twin 21" passive radiators (no word on amp) in the $4k range. I didn't know there were other 21" HT "turnkey" subs.

One of these Cerwin Vega monsters. Not a HT sub but will do 120-130dB

without breaking a sweat

I helped a friend with the setup.

Sounded like a boombox until that setting was turned off (What was

Onkyo thinking....)

I tried a similar setting with my Marantz receiver and Polk towers. I am also using a near field location with my sub, the reason for trying that setting.

What I found is that this setting does help with reducing the localization of the sub at a near field position it seems to ruin the intended "mix, or levels" of the soundtrack in a 5.1 setting. Since then I have switched back and prefer the typical "small" speaker settings.
