Just an FYI. It's 8:15pm on 11/8/00 and my Showstopper is downloading 3.0. The wait is finally over.


I did one net connect and got new channel guide info, but not the software. On the second net connect it downloaded the new software. It's currently stuck on the infamous 11%.

I got 3.0 build 21 for my Showstopper last night. I then adjusted a few shows to not record the repeat.

Last night (Wednesday) @ 11:00pm I forced a net connect a received v3.0. I had to force connect 2 times. The first was just a programming update and then on the second one I saw a new progress line "Updating hard drive software" The weird thing, is that all Panasonic menu references are gone. The 411 screen still lists a PV serial number (which I did not think would change), but everything else is all ReplayTV. I wonder if it fixed the MVBug. I have not actually experienced it, but I know a lot of you have. For those of you "infected" with the MVBug, has the v3.0 upgrade helped??

3.0 has no "Don't record this episode" functionality.

As soon as I get home tonight, I'll see if I have 3.0. If not, I'll net connect and try to get it. Once I do, I can tell you if the problem still exists as I have a channel that it always shows up on.

What do you know...my fingers "slipped" http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/wink.gif and hit 243 Zones (option 4) twice and lo and behold, I get this message at the bottom that say "Getting new Hard Disc Recorder Software"...hmmm, wonder what that could be http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/biggrin.gif ??


I wonder if our ReplayXXXX friends put something in to recognize if you were forcing a connect after you had already downloaded once (either naturally or through 243Z) and to download the software. I was just going to wait, but so many people have reported getting the new software downloaded on the second try, I couldn't resist!!!

Got home, net connected, got 3.0 on the first try (went out to dinner while downloading http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/smile.gif ).


The MV Bug is still present in both forms (i.e. the behavior of not allowing recording or viewing is still there, and it still kicks in when it shouldn't.) One semi-interesting tidbit. You know how the description field in the channel guide is "translucent?" Well, if I go to my infamous MV Bug channel, and pull up the channel guide, after the copy protection screen kicks in, I can still see the contents of the channel in the translucent part for several more seconds until finally it goes all one color (can't tell what color since it's behind the blue film of the description background, but I'm guessing it matches the copy protection screen's color.)


All in all, I like the changes with the exception that I don't like the blue color scheme and I want my rust color scheme back!!!

I am getting to 11%. Then after about 15 minutes it says there is a problem and the modem hangs up. All the message says is that the modem hung up. I tried twice yesterday. The regular download got the same message even though I received the new listings. Tried again today and received the modem hung up after about 15 minutes at 11%. What can I do about this? Al

You aren't going to receive tech support for errors caused by an unauthorized forced net connect. If you're getting errors, give it a few days, you'll have it automatically.

http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/frown.gif I left it last night at the "11%" mark...this morning I found out it had failed...problem talking to the server. I tried Net Connecting a couple of times this morning, but I guess I'll just go back to waiting until my number's picked...

I waited 3 nights for it to download the new software on its own but it didn't. My patience gone, this morning I tried doing manual connect via menu-setup-change dialing options which didn't work either (I tried several times). A little while ago, I tried 2-4-3 zones and forced a net connect which appears to be doing the trick (new hard disk recorder software - 81% done).

I just got 3.0! On my brand new 3030. Still nothing on the ShowStopper. Think I'll wait and see just how long it can take.
