Is there a product available that will receive remote codes and then blast them out as different ones?

My tv and dvd player share some codes. For example, hit play on the dvd and the input changes on the tv.

I'd like to place a device in front of the dvd player to receive an IR signal from a Universal remote (that is different from the tv) and then send a corresponding IR signal out the back to the dvd player that is correct for the player.

I don't know of any such device. With a problem like yours, when you can't change the devices to respond to different IR, your best bet is to use an RF/IR remote that has addressible IR emitters. Currently, the Home Theater Master MX-800 will do that, but it may be too expensive for you. However, in a month or two, there will be some lower cost Home Theater Master remotes that will have addressible IR emitters, so you can independently control multiple components that respond to the same IR.

Interesting. Seems a bit expensive though. I've been looking around and I've found some addressable routers. Would that do it and are there any available under $100?

What is the brand of the TV and DVD? Does the DVD play command act as an input toggle command on the TV, or does it go to a specific input? Is that the only command that has a conflict?

jcm, thanks for the suggestion. I'll give that a try.

jarmstrong, the tv is a toshiba and the dvd is a momitsu v880n. There are numerous conflicts. For example, change the volume on the TV and the dvd ejects.
