It keeps being said that their is not a noticable difference between the resolution of a 16:9 native 480p PJ such as the 4805 and a 4:3 PJ such as the H30 or X1. It's just 54 lines on the sides and 30 lines on the top and bottom that are cropped. But because these lines are being cropped from the outer edges of a 4:3 projector there is a significant loss of resolution.

I did some calculating. A 480p widescreen projector has 409920 pixels for a 16:9 image. A 4:3 800x600 projector has 360000 pixels in 16:9 mode. So there is a loss of 49920 pixels between a true 16:9 PJ and a 4:3 in 16:9 mode. That is quite significant in my opinion. When you only have 360K pixels to start with, adding another 50K should be very noticable.
