Hi guys,

I'd like to upgrade my vga card (integrated 8200) with a better vga (that's for hd tv on mediaportal). I need a silent single slot vga. I tried the sapphire passive 4670 but is too height for my htpc case (chieftec hm-02).

I saw also that the 5450 not support a post processing over 1080i.

What can you suggest me?

I searched in this forum and I found that the xfx gt 220 is very silent. is it true?

I need a good silent card for 1080i/1080p.

thx.

i just did a build with the "XFX HD 4350 512mb", it came with the low profile bracket.

It has the 7pin (svideo type)component video connector also.

I used the 7pin component Video cable that came with my 3870/4670 cards. It hooked up to a 1080i Panasonic 56" rear projector quite well. as good as you can get anyway.

XFX also has a 1GB version. They are both single slot dual sided heat sink for optimal cooling...

I really like the way XFX puts the extra touches to there cards. gun metal/puter brackets, red connectors and black pcb's. the heatsink are fancy also.

Does your current IGP not handle 1080i? My 6150 IGP from 4 years ago does fine with it via component output.

If you are interested in outputting to a TV (without a HDMI/lossless receiver) 1 year old Radeon and Nvidia options would be more than adequate, I think. Radeon 4000 stuff can be very inexpensive.

No, mine 8200 is not enough for mediaportal and 1080i, i'm looking for a card that can support 1080i vad and postprocessing (like 5570) but really silent.

Cecet,

Even if you look at Sapphire, Powercolor, they are silent. Just Google Radeon 5570 review and read. They adavantage of XFX is it has the display port instead of VGA. Hardware wise this is the right card for you, read reviews to make sure it is silent as you want.

This is the best advise I an give you.

XFX GT 220 is one of the quietest cards I have owned.

Powercolor HD5750 SCS3 IS the quietest card I have ever owned (it is passive...). That said, it is not what the OP is looking for since it requires 2 slots and room above the slot for the heatsink.

XFX 5570? No. Unless you need HD audio bitstreaming, GT 220 is a good and cheaper choice.

Rene,

Out of curiousity, why you don't recommed the 5570? From what I gathered, it can do deinterlacing with post process and as good as the GT220?

Thanks

How are you getting component out with IGP?
