Sim2 C3X projector help

5072 Views 72 Replies 20 Participants Last post by  MikeRich
I just recently had my new Sim2 C3X projector installed. The problem that I am having is that my Sim2 remote will not turn on the projector from the front of the projector. It turns on the projector ok from the back of the projector. All of the other remote functions work both from behind and in front of the projector including turning off the projector (which is the same button to turn on the projector). Is this the way it is supposed to be, or is there something wrong with my projector? If there is something wrong with my projector, is there a quick fix?

I find that turing on the projector is also a little bit wonky.

I do not know how it is designed to operate.
Hi,

This is a well known bug of the C3X.

There is a update from Sim2 to fix this bug - but the dealer have to install it.

Take care

Try putting a small mirror behind the C3X as in interim fix, until you can get the dealer fix installed. I did something similar with my IR repeater system.
I am having the same problem. I switched to the rear, with a repeater. Pretty rediculous.
You guys still use IR remotes with $15k projectors? Seriously? The factory remote? Seriously? Santa Claus needs to bring you an RF remote system. It may not be too late! Click [email protected] . :)
I am using an URC MX800 which is RF that translates to IR.
....use the rear port, but wear protection.
How do you like the C3X projector otherwise... I'm about to order it for a home theater
I absolutly love my C3X. I also have absolutly NO problems turning it on from the front. I have one of the first units and never had trouble. I just hold down the power button a couple of seconds and I see the lamp strike up. All of my remote functions work by just pointing the remote at the screen and it bounces back to the projector and everything works. Seems very sensitive to me.

sorry to hear all the rest are having problems.

My big tweaks for my smaller 8 foot wide 16x9 screen:

Gray screen

Denon 2910 Dvd player via DVI 720p

HD cable box via component but plan to switch to a DVI switcher soon.

HTPC for slide shows and any other computer needs but really not used much because my audio on it sucks. Not computer savy enough to fix it. Picture looks great though via the HTPC.

My screen is the Carada HCG but I also have the BW material. Thinking about getting a ND2 and ND 4 filter and putting the BW back on and seeing how that looks compared to the gray screen.

Looks awsome to say the least!

Love mine as well. I am running 720p into it from my Onkyo SP1000, and HD from HD Tivo, and SA Cable via component. Hope to have a VP30, if it ever gets shipped to me, and then will be interesting to see if the processing is better with that combo.

I just installed a ND Glass Absorptive filter that cuts about 30% and a 50% is on the way. I am experimenting with the filters, especially since I am still using my 120" Silverstar, and it is mighty bright. :) I do like the way the Silverstar preserves contrast, and appreciate a really punchy picture, but am interested in seeing if I can improve black level performance.
Other than the remote problem, I have no complaints. Great picture, quiet, and easy to handle.

I am glad to hear there is a fix for the remote problem. I am going to have to speak to Jason Turk about what to do.
Other than that remote ir issue. I have no problems. The picture is great.

I'm also with you guys. This is the best picture I have seen to date. I especially like the combination of C3X and 92" wide Firehawk and DVI to HDMI via my HTPC. The whites are still brilliant and the blacks are deep, solid and very convincing. I cant really see myself changing for quite some while even with the event of 1080p. Bottom line, I'm utterly thrilled with this this projector.

Thanks for all the feedback. I was getting some second thoughts with the hype around the new Sony ruby. What, if anything should I use to scale my DVDs up to 720p. Is the scaler in the C3X any good?

Normally good advice, but probably unnecessary unless they own a time share PJ. Besides, PCRacer seems to prefer the safer route...

Though Phil remains elusive preferring to focus on his feelings.

Well, on mine, I felt the scaler is fine for the most part. I did not test it too much as my DVD player scales even better IMO.

Now the de-interlacer is a different story! I don't know if there is any firmware upgrades to fix it but my de-interlacer sucked. It was so bad I thought I made a mistake buying this thing. Even my di-interlacer in my Yamaha DVD player was not much better so sending it a Progressive picture from it looked bad. I knew the progressive output looked bad from that player even before hooking it up because it looked bad on my HX1 as well. I always used the HX1s internal processors as they looked very good. That is why I was so dissapointed in the C3Xs internal processors especially for the money I spent on this thing.

I use the Denon 2910 using the DVI out to the HDMI in. I have it set to 720p output and the picture is nothing less than stunning. Smooth, jaggle free, and Very HD like.

I would use some type of external scaler and de-interlacer with it IMO. Don't skimp here as you may be missing out on a fantastic picture you did not know you had.

Sorry so wordy. :D

LOL. :D
Great toy. The person who's buying the VP30 please post findings before and after VP30.
