If anyone is using this combo I had a question about getting 1080p/24 fps from the Panny to the D80. I set the Panny to output 1080p and then 'Auto' and it won't let me force 1080p/24 from what I understand. But from what I've been told the D80 will output 1080p/24 but it's only showing 1080p/60 when I played The Patriot and Ratatoulie. So if anyone having this combo can give me any help I would really appreciate it, thanks.

That 1080p/60 info panel you see, with a mode number is the mode number for the VP. It is determined by analysis of the incoming signal. It seems your PJ is receiving a 30hz or 60hz signal rather than 24hz.
Thanks coldmachine,

So if I understand you correctly, it's a Panny problem. Are all Blu-ray discs in 1080p/24 or only certain ones? Should I try other movies? I guess I'll post in the Panny thread as well.

There is a thread over on the UK forum AVforums.com about issues with the D80 and 1080p/24 input. I'll try to find the thread but the bottom line IIRC appeared to be that it only works (due to EDID issues on the D80 ?) if the player has forced 1080p/24 output.

I assumed it was, as i had no issues when i had a D80. In view of Dazzers post it may indeed be that you need a forced 24p. I didn't have an issue either with a standalone player or PS3 but in light of Dazzers info i cannot rule out that "forced" was selected. It may be worth calling to check if it has been updated in a firmware update. Good catch Dazzer.
Thanks for the info guys. The Panny does not have a way to force 1080p/24 so it looks like I'm out of luck unless either Panny or Sim2 come out with a firmware upgrade. I have updated the Panny 2 times already. I guess I may talk to my dealer and go to the HT380 or just be content with what I have.

Updating to a 380 is drastic just for 24p. You have good VP as is. TBH when i upgraded the software on my HD-DVD i didnt notice much.

Check for a firmware u/d for sure as i believe that when the HT3000s get upgraded to HT3000e they also get flashed and they absolutely handle 24p properly.
coldmachine,

You're probably right about spending so much extra for one feature. It was just wishful thinking on my part anyway
I will talk to my dealer about any possible updates that might help.
