Sim2 Domino 30H Advice

720 Views 6 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Fabbas
The Hifi shop I work for here in Australia is a dealer for SIM2 projectors and notably the Domino range. This means I can get pretty much cost pricing on this range.

At the moment I'm running a Panasonic AE700 which is nearly on the last of it's lamp hours.

I haven't had a chance to see the 30H properly set up as we only have the Domino 18 on display. I'm impressed even with the PQ of the 18 so I'm guessing the 30H is pretty impressive.

Is it worth it to upgrade to the 30H after my AE700 runs out or should I look at something in between? The AE900 is about 1/2 the price of the Domino, both at cost pricing.

Thanks

The Domino 30 could be thought of as a step up from something like an InFocus 7205. I don't know what it sells for in Austrailia, but if you can get it at cost, you would be doing well. You could use it for a while, then turn it over for close to what you paid for it.

Thanks for the reply.

Any idea on the brightness of these machines? Sim2 doesn't seem to state it anywhere.

Thanks again
I think it uses the same lamp as in the 18/20 so if you are OK with that level of brightness, you should be happy with the brightness on the 30.
Cool, thanks
The light engine of the Domino 30 is actually the same as the HT300.

I remember seeing the Domino 30 a couple of years ago. It's got a really smooth, film-like picture and great colors. I recall being very impressed with it at the time. I haven't seen the AE900. I'd have to compare it to the Yamaha LPX 500. The Domino 30 wins hands down.
