Hi all,

I realize this question has been asked many times and I am sorry for that. I've been browsing around for hours now and my problem is I don't understand much about this stuff and every answered thread I see on here seems to be way overpowered for what we need.

During company meetings if there is a video that needs to be played it comes out of the crappy projector speaker. I want to add 2 or more higher quality ceiling speakers for better clarity. I just don't know what to get or the technical lingo involved.

I'm hoping I could use the audio out of the projector to go to some device that then powers a couple speakers. Could someone just tell me what device to buy and what speakers to get. :)

Btw, I posted something about this same conference room a couple years ago but we never followed through on that plan for multiple video sources, audio, etc. Turns out we really only need audio.

If anyone is curious, our laptops usually connect to an HDMI cable in the that goes to the projector HDMI1 or lately we've been using the Microsoft WiDi adapter in HDMI2.

check and see if the projector has a "line out" jack.

a few things: what about wiring up the speakers? can you handle that? where will you locate the equipment ( amp) ? - also it will be the point to which the speaker wires will run to, as well as the source ( the projector / possibly the laptop) will also have to connect to. how do you plan on controlling the volume?

all relatively simple questions, but you just need to work out how it will connect. this doesn't have to be expensive either... equipment-wise, you could be under 500.

a couple of other thoughts... you are into commercial AV territory... although, you don't have to go that route. Are there other applications? do you want to mic the presenter? This could impact the overall equipment solution.

again, there are some cost-effective ways to get all this accomplished.

also, there may be building codes to consider. sometimes in commercial buildings, there may be fire codes where only plenum wire can be run...landlord might have something to say about it as well...could be making noise for other tenants...

those are acoustical ceiling tiles, there are some installation considerations. some what fragile. they also cover some open space...

budget?

all things being considered , it may be faster and cheaper in the long run to consult a professional.

good luck.

It has a line out.

I would not be doing the actual install, we do have someone for that.

I was thinking about putting the amp in the ceiling since it's not an enclosed space. I just don't know if we would need constant access to it. If we do need access to it we might put it on that back shelf (in Pic3) and have the wiring go up through the wall. Or in one of the cabinets below.

The laptop connects to the projector either through HDMI (which there is a floor connector between the two tables closest to the back cabinets which you can't see in Pic3). Otherwise we use the Microsoft WiDi adapter which also passes audio.

I think around $500 is kind of what we wanted to spend. We don't need a Mic. The room is small enough that it's not difficult to hear anyone speak. Really it's just when a video or presentation is being played the sound quality is such crap coming from the projector that we want better quality there.

I'm not completely opposed to have a professional audio company come in here, but last time we did they recommended Revel C283 ceiling speakers at $225 each. That seems a bit pricey for what we want. I was seeing speakers for between $29.99 and $79.99, but maybe those aren't good enough?

This is why I need help. :)

here you go: https://www.parts-express.com/dayto...th-(4)-8-ceiling-speaker-plus-tile---247-5110

give them a call to make sure you have enough speaker wire and the input cable to run from the line out on the projector back to the mixer input.

considering the drop ceiling tiles that you have to contend with, this seems like the most simple install.

there is a also a 40 W , 6 speaker version of the kit, if you want more power and speakers. But from the sounds of it, I think the 4 speaker kit hits all you requirements. And you can add a mike if you want!

good luck.

This is perfect! Thank you, thank you, thank you! :)

You are a wonderful person!

The bundle was out of stock so I ordered a clearance DA10T, 4 speaker bridge bundle, speaker wire (need that), a 3.5mm cable and RCA adapter.

They are only about an hour from us in Ohio so it will be here tomorrow and I can have installed it before the monthly meeting on Thursday.
