I just hooked up a Joytech trilink 3x1 switcher.

I swear the picture from the Sat DVR is not as sharp and bright as it was directly into my monitor. There is no obvious degradation, speckles, etc.

I thought HDMI was digital and it either worked or didn't??

Please save me from tearing apart the system to confirm this !!

thx

I have the Monoprice switcher, and it works great!

Yes, Mine works great. The question was a technical one:

Can a switcher degrade an HDMI signal or is it 100% digital and either perfect or not at all ????

thx

It can not subtly degrade an HDMI signal. The picture is either perfect or generally very bad.

If you want to do a proper determination of this, you should do a blind check. Have someone else change the system between the switch and direct without telling you. Do this numerous times in a random fashion. You might try freezing the picture when you do this. Only if you can consistently tell the difference between the switch being in or out under these conditions can you truly say that it degrades the picture.
