Hello

My infocus 1xa projector is connected to a standalone dvd player and that runs to my receiver already. (on the other side of the house ) I would like to remove the standalone dvd player since it locks up and skips on dvds.

I am just wanting to hookup a simple htpc or just a extra computer to my Infocus projector for watching dvds. I am not wanting to record tv shows or audio stuff.

So what would the easiest way to do this and what would be a good sound card , video card and would I need any special software or just windvd be good.

I have a wireless gyravtion keyboard and mouse that I will use with it.

Thanks

Mark,

If you purchase a newer aged motherboard, a $100-150 solution will provide an excellent 7.1 sound card with digital in/out, a video card with enough power to render 3d applications that are actually usable (Vista ready), and even raid controllers if you decide to create a storage library. Additionally, if you run a media operating system, such as Windows XP Media Center Edition or Ubuntu MythTV, etc. you will not need additional software to play a DVD back. Otherwise, WinDVD will work fine in most cases.

To recommend a motherboard solution, you would need to select a processor platform and a price range. You'll be surprised what you can do with a dedicated HTPC...for less than $400 new if you try hard enough.

Thanks. I thought of thought but right now can't swing the new MB.

I have a P3 sitting here and thought I use this till I can get a new MB

Son works for a electronic store so he cuts some really good deals on Video and sound cards (no MB's tho :-(. Hell sometimes he only has to pay shipping on them.

Thanks again.
